My name is Jimisola Andreas Laursen. I was born in Malmö, Sweden on July 13th 1977.
I have a background as professional track athlete running for Malmö Track Club (MAI) and the Swedish National Team. Main event was 400m but as a sprinter I also ran 100m and 200m.
My personal bests are 45.54 outdoor from the heats of the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton, Canada and 45.59 from the final of the 2002 European Indoor Championships in Vienna, Austria where I earned a silver medal. Both times where Swedish records at the time and the indoor record still stands.
During my years of track I also studied at Lund University and earned a Master of Science in Computer Science. After graduation I worked as software developer, mainly developing server/client software in Java, with a short sejour as project leader. I’m a pro open source, a Linux guy and still trying to keep my software developing skills up to date during my spare time.
After my track career I ended up pursuing another of my dreams – becoming a pilot. I was fortunate to make it into the state funded pilot education at Lund University School of Aviation. I finished in 2008 and the year after I managed to land my first pilot job as First Officer on the B737 with Nigerian airline Arik Air. On my way back to Europe and Sweden I’ve flown for a couple of other European airlines. I’m currently a First Officer on the Airbus 320 with the Scandinavian flag carrier Scandinavian Airlines.
